This policy explains how NZinsurancecover handles personal information under the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
- Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and region.
- Risk information needed to obtain a quote — vehicle, property, business activity, sums insured, claims history and, for life and health cover, relevant health information.
- Records of our correspondence, including enquiry form submissions and support chat messages.
Why we collect it
- To prepare quotes, arrange cover and administer your policies.
- To lodge and manage claims on your behalf.
- To meet our legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.
- To contact you at renewal or when something material changes.
Who we share it with
- Insurers, underwriting agencies and reinsurers we approach on your behalf.
- Loss adjusters, assessors and repairers involved in a claim.
- Our service providers, who may store data outside New Zealand under equivalent privacy protections.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Your rights
- You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
- You can withdraw consent to marketing contact at any time.

Storage, security and complaints
- Information is stored in access-controlled systems and retained only while we have a legal or business need for it.
- If you are unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
